Remember how in the movie 'Back to The Future' when in 1985 Marty McFly goes to the Twin Pines Mall to meet Dr. Brown? But when he is in 1955 he plows down one of the two pine trees that is on the future site of the Mall so when comes back to 1985 it is called the Lone Pine Mall? Out of all the stuff that Marty changes when he goes back to the past this one always tickled me the most. It is a small, subtle tiny thing that says even the smallest change in the past can affect the future.

This book would have benefited from that simple little detail. Jane time travels back to the time of King John and even though she tries to keep her head down and affect the past as little as possible, her presence in that time does have an affect on the people there and possibly the outcome of the future. But as the story is presented it is nothing but a historical romance in the guise of a time travel. I was a disappointed because I wanted the time travel element to have some meaning or necessity to the plot and it didn't. I Would've liked some contrast to future before she left and after she returned. As it was the ending was so abrupt and we never even knew what happens to Jane when she returns home. So yeah, I was pretty disappointed overall with the time travel pat of the book and the romance, fairly standard, did not make up for it.

Good reading book
This is a fine time-travel romantic tale. The characters are well drawn and the humor and dialogue are riveting. One of the reviews wisely warns readers not to read too many others as they give away the plot. I am glad I heeded that advice because I really did not guess the ending and was delighted by it. It takes place during medieval times, as do some other books by Sizemore. It is a wonderful book with which to while away some happy hours.
Interesting reading experience of what we might experience if transported to the middle ages. It helps to have knowledge of the time period before making the journey. The trip was a wonderful reminder of how easy life today is in comparison to that period of time. An enjoyable read.
Loved, loved, loved this Story, could not put it down . Want to read more of the same kind of story . A great Time Travel Romance !!!
I bought and read Ms. Sizemore's WINGS OF THE STORM when it first came out. LOVED IT.. But I lost my copy over the years. Boy was a glad when I found it on ebooks. I immediately purchased it and read it again. Even though I knew the outcome, I read it non stop. It was just as good the second time around as the first. I just purchased another of her books and am in the process of reading it.
I picked up the original edition of Wings Of The Storm in 1992. It was the first romance I'd ever read and now twenty years on it's still as thrilling to read as it was then. Susan Sizemore is one of the greats in romance writing, no doubt about that, and the popularity of this book today shows it's worth every cent. The realistic medieval setting and it's people are woven seamlessly together in to such a thrilling tale. The main characters along with minor ones are a joy to travel with on this adventure, and it's one that is hard to put down. The hero in particular is by far the most intense and deeply sensual character I have come across in the last two decades of reading romance novels - the major reason I read this again each year or so.

It all begins when the man in charge of the time-travel experiment where she works in the present day, under the heavy influence of alcohol, forces her to travel back in time without any preparation on her part. She arrives in the middle ages with goods that were sent back with her including appropriate clothing and a few trade goods that made her a rich woman in that time. Under the guise of a widow from the Holy Land she begins her journey in to the local area, determined to enter a convent for safety reasons as soon as possible. Instead she is talked in to becoming Chatelaine of Passfair Castle, it seems as good a place as any to stay safe for a while. That is until she meets a certain handsome yet brutal knight whom she cannot get out of her mind - and struggles more and more to protect her heart from.

You'll read of bandits, the rescue of a fair maiden, desperate battles and the all too real threat that is every day life in the middle ages - with not one but two love stories woven throughout the tale.

What an absolute pleasure it always is to read this story, I couldn't recommend it more highly.
I read this book when it was first published and I loved the story and the characters. I have looked for the book for years, so that I could read it again. Sadly, I forgot the title so I was unable to find it again. Then, happily I found a web site that was able to tell me the author and title based on the description of the story line. I found the book was available on kindle and yes! I love the story just as much as the first reading.
