Shiloh has always seen things other people can’t, and no matter how much she’d like to pretend she is just like any other girl, she isn’t. When she takes a summer job doing restoration at Craven Manor, despite its haunted history, she is swept up into an evil mystery that has the first born town’s children disappearing. And if that’s not enough, Shiloh has been marked and targeted for death by something evil brewing in Fallen Oaks. In between it all, is Trent, who sets her pulse racing, but insists that there is nothing supernatural going on in his creepy home of Craven Manor. Can Shiloh unravel the mystery of her town, her own family’s history and Trent’s hot and cold attitude?After reading ‘Lost in Starlight’, I went looking for more good books from this interesting author and came across ‘Beautifully Broken’. There are many things that attract me to Sherry Soule’s writing. Her character’s fashion sense is part of the brand that makes Sherry Soule unique, and there are lovely touches of it throughout this novel too. The characters Sherry creates are also always unique. Shiloh has a wonderfully eclectic heritage and past that makes her super interesting. Sherry Soule’s writing style is another part of her brand. Her use of short, punchy sentences is fun and straight-forward.
Whilst I enjoyed ‘Beautifully Broken’, I found the relationship between Trent and Shiloh to be too hot and cold and would have preferred a slightly slower development. The ending also disappointed me. I’m all for cliff-hangers, but I wanted a bit more of a plateau at the end. I felt that Shiloh had spent the entire book in investigation mode and I wanted a bit of an obstacle or challenge for her to face before we said goodbye to her until next time.
There were two things I loved about this novel. One was the email inserts. It was just so realistic and cute. Another was the bonus scenes at the end from Trent’s POV. To be honest, I felt these were better than the original scenes.
Overall, not a bad read, but I preferred ‘Lost in Starlight’.

Just finished reading book 1 of the series. I very much enjoyed it! Fast moving, fun characters, interesting plot. Looking forward to reading the rest of the series!
Seemed to aimlessly ramble. The story seemed repetitive in areas and you keep reading but your not getting anything from what you are reading. Has potential but something is missing and there is a disconnect to the story and the characters.
The story is great and i love the characters the only complaint I have is its written from the view point of a hormonal 15 year old which may be okay when its being read by a hormonal 15 year old but is annoying to a more mature audience. Don't get me wrong I really loved this book I just wish the author had toned down the teen speak a little. I will be buying everything this author writes I already bought book 2.
Truly amazing style of story telling. I could feel every hormone going through Shiloh a young teen not told she is a witch and a seer rejected by her own mother I felt that heartbreak and cried. Now there is a new hottie in town Trent and I can't wait to see if Shiloh and her familiar Charm will come undone by Trent or if he will help her save her town and her friends from evil.
I love a good coming of age story. It brings me back to those thoughts and emotions of growing up and figuring things out. Throw in some fantasy and paranormal elements and I'm sold, because who wouldn't love to live in a world where these things are possible? Author Sherry Soule combines the two masterfully in her "Spellbound" series. "Beautifully Broken" is the first novel in this series and it is amazing. The story of Shiloh and Trent, two teenagers who are coming together but also figuring things out in the midst of a mystery. Shiloh's secret is both a help and a hindrance. This is a great first installment that introduces the characters and story line quite well. Such an enjoyable read and highly recommended.
Shiloh had always heated whispers and seen shadows, but had never seen a human shadow. It was a demon. He told her that the a car on her arm was the devil's mark and there was a debt to be paid. While she was in church, she noticed a new guy and he was hot. A wraith was beside him. The wraith told her that the soul eater was coming for her. Her friend Arianna told her the hot guy's info and that he lives in the haunted house Craven Manor. When Shiloh got a job at Craven Manor, she became friends with Trent. She wondered where it would lead her.
This is the first novel I've read by Sherry Soule so I don't really have a good hold on her writing style. I gave 3 stars because the storyline was good and even though I had to but it down several times because of the repetitive writing, I did always pick it back up.
I felt this story could've had so much more accomplished by the end. Most of the inner dialogue of the h Shiloh was VERY repetitive. I get she is a teenager and not a mature. But I would say 60% of the book is dedicated to stating her insecurities the same and different ways. The H Trent seems intresting but doesn't give you much about him except for his 'dark & mysterious' ways. I will more then likely read the second because I don't like cliffhangers and the story was good enough to make me see what happens next. All in all if this wasn't a free read I wouldn't have bothered. Maybe if I was a teen I would have enjoyed it better.
